2022 Honda Legend Specs

The current Honda legend has been on sale in select markets since 2014 and is essentially a revamped Acura RLX. While the RLX will disappear in the US after 2020, the reduced demand for sedans here means Honda will not offer this updated legend as a replacement.

The only new elements we see in the updated Legend are the new front and rear fascias. It includes new sensors for the vehicle’s planned electronic driver assistance systems.

Honda has confirmed that the updated legend will boast a self-propelled traffic jam system with a Tier 3 rating on the SAE Self-Propelled Force scale. Level 3 means a vehicle that can steer itself in certain conditions, allowing the driver to let go of the steering wheel and even look away from the road for a moment.

With Tier 3 cars, the driver must always be ready to take over. Many car manufacturers want to skip Level 3 due to this shortcoming and go straight to Level 4 on the self-propelled capability scale. Level 4 means a vehicle that can drive itself longer under certain conditions. Another major difference from Level 3 is that in most cases a Level 4 vehicle can safely stop if the driver does not control when needed.

Many countries also block regulations to allow Level 3 cars to be on the road, which is why Audi canceled its original plans to introduce a Level 3 autonomous driving system for traffic jams on its A8.

The most advanced autonomous driving systems offered today only offer Level 2 on the SAE scale, operating only under certain conditions and requiring constant operator supervision. The final goal, which is a level 5 car, means a car that can drive at the same level as a human.

As for the drivetrain, we’d likely see the updated Legend wand with the standard hybrid four-wheel drive for the current model. It’s the same setup as on the RLX, the 3.5-liter V-6 works with three electric motors to produce a combined power of 377 hp.

2022 Honda Legend Driveline Specifications
