2023 VW Tiguan. The year 2022 brought with it a slew of fresh and exciting developments. We noticed a new style, as well as an upgraded inside. When these standard features are added together, it is evident that the VW Tiguan 2023 will not see any significant alterations. The VW Tiguan 2023 will be the trademark carryover model following the most recent mid-cycle refresh. Minor changes, such as additional color options and additions to the basic equipment list, are the best we can see.

Regardless, everything will remain the same. We rely on familiar designs, which have a lot to offer. The Tiguan offers a very impressive interior quality, as well as a very spacious cabin. Other than that, it’s one of the rare compact crossovers with an optional third row. Handling is good, although the car will definitely use more power. The fuel economy is also not amazing.

2023 VW Tiguan Redesign

As we just mentioned, the VW Tiguan 2023 is expected to be a typical carry-on model. Simply put, the last update in the middle of the cycle brought many interesting updates, starting with more interesting patterns. Next year’s model will continue with the same changes, especially at the front. There, you’ll find a pair of new headlights that take a lot of inspiration from the latest Golf Mk8. Additionally, the grille is also new, while some areas at the rear have also been modified.

On the other hand, the mechanical aspect has not changed much since the launch of the first generation, but this is not a problem at all, considering that this SUV offers a fairly good driving quality, which balances comfort and sporty handling well. Apart from that, the steering is perfectly balanced, which makes driving this SUV very easy.

Inside, the VW Tiguan 2023 will also continue in the same way and that’s a good thing. Simply put, this is probably the strongest point of this intersection. First of all, the interior quality is good. The dashboard may not look very attractive, but things like materials and build quality are impressive. Also, there are a lot of technical features, which make everything look even better.

2023 VW Tiguan Interior Rumors

In addition to great build quality, Tiguan offers a large area and a high level of practicality. The first and second rows are quite spacious, while there is also an optional third row, which is a rarity in this class of vehicles. It’s not very wide but definitely adds an extra dose of flexibility.

In terms of cargo space, the two-row model offers about 37.6 cubic feet behind the rear seats and a total of 73.4 cubic feet. The three-row model is less generous and offers about 12 cubic feet of space behind the third row, 33 cubic feet behind the second row, and a total of 65.3 cubic feet behind the first row.

It’s always possible to add to the standard equipment list but we’re sure things will stay the same on the current model. So, all models should come standard with good things like push-button start, keyless entry, 6.5-inch touch screen, stereo speakers, Bluetooth, Android Auto, Mirror Link, Apple CarPlay, two USB ports, Wi-Fi hotspots, and an 8-inch digital block.

Among the upgrades, expect to see things like an 8-inch touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital cockpit, a nine-speaker Fender audio system, satellite radio, HD Radio, navigation, two other USB ports, and wireless device charging as well. In addition to remote start, a panoramic sunroof and automatic dual-zone climate control.

2023 VW Tiguan Powertrain Specification

While the interior is one of the Tiguan’s strongest points, the powertrain is quite the opposite. The 2023 VW Tiguan will continue with the same 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which produces about 184 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque. That’s enough for something more than decent driving dynamics. Competitors such as the Honda CR-V and Mazda CX-5 offer better performance. The engine comes paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, which does a very good job.

Another weak point is fuel economy. With this SUV, you can count on no more than 23 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway. By comparison, a similarly powered Honda CR-V delivers about 28 mpg city and 34 mpg highway.

2023 VW Tiguan Release date

We think the 2023 VW Tiguan will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of 2022. The starting price should be around $27,000.

2023 VW Tiguan Update

The second generation Volkswagen Tiguan received the usual midlife facelift last year. In 2023, the next generation Volkswagen Tiguan will replace the current generation that debuted in late 2015. Unlike today’s lineup, the Volkswagen Tiguan 2023 will have not one but two hybrid variants, as reported by the German press.

Volkswagen Tiguan is the best selling model worldwide. With the brand’s ascent up the electric ladder, the great responsibility to make Accelerate’s new strategy a success falls on his shoulders. With the Volkswagen Passat four-door being phased out after the current generation and the Volkswagen Golf discontinued in the US with the MY2021, there are even stronger expectations for the next-generation Volkswagen Tiguan. Therefore, it will be more important than in the past for Volkswagen to quickly balance the Tiguan’s lineup.

Design

Volkswagen President Herbert Diess shared an update on LinkedIn on Volkswagen’s adaptation to the coronavirus lockdown. He said the company agreed to direct the car’s design via an online meeting for the first time. Alongside the post, Diess displays a blurry video screen on the wall behind an unidentified soft-designed crossover SUV (set as the main image for this story). At the time, there was speculation that Diess had just approved the design of the VW Tiguan 2023.

According to a report by Auto Zeitung, interior design should be more digital and focus on stronger online networks. The Tiguan is an always-on model by adopting the MIB3 infotainment system with a mid-cycle refresh in the second generation of last year. In its third generation, this compact SUV can feature the touch slider that was introduced in its eighth generation Golf. The air conditioning, infotainment system and panoramic sunroof can be controlled using a touch slider.

Motors

According to auto motor und sport, the next generation Volkswagen Tiguan will come in a regular hybrid variant and a plug-in hybrid variant. The VW Tiguan R 2023 will be a high-performance hybrid SUV. This isn’t Volkswagen’s first hybrid R model – the VW Touareg R PHEV won the title last year. The VW Touareg R combines a 250 kW 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 with a 100 kW electric motor powered by a 17.9 kWh (gross) lithium-ion battery. The VW Tiguan R PHEV will likely use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol engine, which is cheaper and more efficient than a V6.

The next-generation VW Tiguan eHybrid and next-generation VW Tiguan R PHEV should have a pure electric range of about 100 km or 62 miles on European WLTP standards, which is double the current range. “We will still need combustion engines for a while, but they have to be as efficient as possible, which is why the next generation of our core products – all global models – will also be equipped with the latest generation of plug-ins. VW CEO Ralf Brandstätter said, Announcing the acceleration strategy in March: “Hybrid technology, with an electric range of up to 100 km.”

No LWB Version

Reports say the next-generation Volkswagen Tiguan lineup will not include the Allspace Remote Edition, which means the seven-seater option won’t be available. This is strange, given that Tiguan LWB has proven its popularity all over the world with a staggering 55% share in global production.

Citing internally circulated documents, Automotive News Europe reported last year that Volkswagen plans to produce a new SUV based on the Chinese market Volkswagen Tyron at its Wolfsburg plant in Germany starting in 2024. It may be the successor to the Tiguan, the first Space. If the Tiguan returns to the five-seater of the first generation, expect a sleeker, sharper, bolder exterior, a sophisticated interior with more comfort and safety, and possibly a new center airbag between the front seats.

Release Date

Volkswagen Tiguan 2023 could debut in the second half of 2022 and go on sale in 2023. The main competitors are the usual suspects – such as Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V. Volkswagen is unlikely to launch a Tiguan EV, as it already has a pure electric compact SUV that is sold globally in this segment – VW ID 4. In the coming years, the company will try to make ID.4 more accessible by localizing production in the regions key and introduce new entry-level variants.
