2023 Ford Fusion. What do you anticipate the Ford Fusion 2023 will be like? Ford, on the other hand, has his own ideas. For starters, Ford will discontinue the Fusion for good. They are, however, prepared using Fusion Active. Fusion Active, a wagon variant of the sedan, will be available. Will it be entertaining or deceptive? We won’t know for sure until Ford manufactures it. The Active will be an all-wheel drive system with a medium-lift profile and robust body cladding based on the Mondeo (European model).
Ford’s plan is not without its own risks. Producing station wagons in a market filled with SUV brands is certainly risky. 2023 Ford Fusion Redesign
The chassis of a chariot can be put as a basis, but it will not be a full chariot. Imagine Subaru’s long-roof version with all-wheel drive, exterior construction, and lightweight suspension.
To make it a little softer, there will be a large cutout on the lower body to set them apart. Ford may try to make the Fusion Active the look of a crossover and wagon, but let’s wait and see how the market reacts. Hopefully they won’t think of it as an accidental impact wagon.
2023 Ford Fusion Powertrain Specification
There’s no confirmation on the powertrain yet, but the new 2023 Ford Fusion Active will likely come with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine. This engine will be paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission for a smooth and efficient ride.
What is certain is the all-wheel drive system. Rumor has it that Ford will have a hybrid drive in addition to a hybrid drive. If so, the electrical setup will likely be similar to what supports the Escape compact crossover. This means that you can expect the 2.5-liter four-cylinder to be paired with two (electric) engines.
2023 Ford Fusion Interior Rumors
In addition to changes from the outside, expect changes from the inside as well. Again, until now, the arrangement of the cabin remains a mystery. However, many car enthusiasts expect similar styling from the (newer) Ford brand, especially all-electric models, such as the Explorer mid-size SUV or the Mustang Mach-e crossover.
These models include a vertically oriented center display, a fully digital gauge cluster, as well as flexible interior cabin storage. Hopefully the Active will also offer a comfortable backrest and ample cargo space, considering the Fusion Active will compete with the RegalTourX and Outback.
2023 Ford Fusion Release date
There is no clear information about the upcoming Fusion Active, although much speculation places the price range between $30K and $40K. The release date is also unclear, but the new 2023 Ford Fusion Active will likely be available in late 2021.

2023 Ford Fusion Update
From reliable sources, we’ve found that Ford engineers in the US were seen carrying test mules of a mid-size, high-ride wagon. Think of the gentlemen challenging the Subaru Outback and Buick Regal Torx.
Controversial, though not yet certain, is that this soft-topped roadster is expected to replace the Ford Fusion sedan once it’s launched next year. Remember, the Mustang will be the only non-SUV, pickup, or pickup truck in Ford’s North American lineup for the next decade.
Ford Fusion 2023 Rumors
There are rumors that Ford plans to keep the Fusion name or the variation used here, so don’t be surprised if the mystery car is flagged as something like the Fusion Active. This is the definition of active that Ford uses on foreign soft-road car models such as the Fiesta Active and Focus Active. Ford had planned to import the Focus Active from China, but the trade war put it off.
For the test vehicle, engineers used a flexible body borrowed from the Focus Wagon sold abroad. The Essentials is Ford’s latest version of the CD4 platform for midsize cars, which debuted at Fusion today. This means there’s potential for both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, as well as a plug-in hybrid powertrain.
The Active the Active isn’t a huge upgrade for Ford as the company has long offered a traditional wagon version of the Mondeo’s European version of the Fusion. When using this model as a base, think of the Active as a long-roof version of Subaru’s mid-size all-wheel drive, slightly raised suspension.
An alternative might be a compressed version of the C2 platform, which was last released on Focus last year. This may explain why engineers used the test vehicle’s extended Focus Wagon body instead of the larger Mondeo. Mondeo is the name Fusion uses outside of North America today.
Since we are only in the testing phase, it could take six months or more for the prototype to arrive. This means that any reveal likely won’t happen until 2021, which points to the easy way out as the 2023 model.
Note that while the Fusion sedan is dead soon in the US, it is expected that it will continue to be sold elsewhere. The updated stylish version is expected to be released abroad in 2020.
Not to be confused with a quality hatchback for Europe, the fuse that Ford released in 2005 for the US market did just as well. Not the best mid-range sedan, but not the worst either. However, this type of body design was not favored by North American customers due to SUVs and pickup trucks.
Let’s see the sale? 166,045 units were sold in 2019, down to 173,600 and 209,623 units in 2018 and 2017. Previously, Ford sold more than 300,000 copies in the United States alone. The Fusion is no longer in production at the time of writing, along with the Lincoln MKZ and even the full-size Continental, where previous commercial successes have turned into minor failures.
Don’t worry, the Fusion will return in 2021 as the 2023 model year to rival the Subaru Outback station wagon with all-wheel drive and suspension lift. Coded by Blue Oval, CD542, the Fusion Active’s rear suspension will consist of leaf springs rather than more modern coils.
At first glance, it may seem like a drop in quality, but remember that sheets are heavier than rolls. Used by the heaviest full-size trucks, the Maverick will likely borrow this suspension design to challenge the single-body trucks, Hyundai Santa Cruz and Volkswagen Taroc.
The question is, what would the Fusion look like if Ford stuck with the sedan option? Kleber Silva gives the answer in the form of speculative photos, Peugeot-like LED headlights and Jaguar-Esque taillights partly borrowed from Explorer in the front. The Brazilian pixel artist has also worked wonders with the exhaust design and window trim, as well as the removable door handles.
However, pay close attention to the presentation. Are you really thinking of having a more convenient car in your rental fleet than Escape or Explorer? Or better yet, would you collect $23,170 before destination cost on a Fusion on a decent mid-size sedan like a Camry or Accord for an additional $1,000?
Ford Fusion 2023 Interior Design
Seeing an interior that is better than before. This time around the Ford Fusion 2023, the Fusion Active’s passenger space and cargo capacity are a total mystery. We expect the design to reflect newer Ford products such as the Mach e Mustang crossover and the Explorer mid-size SUV.
This model proposes a fully digital instrument cluster, a vertically oriented central display and versatile internal storage. We also expect the Fusion Active to offer comfortable rear seats and plenty of cargo space to compete with the Outback and Regal TourX.
The latest version of the Ford Sync infotainment system should be included in the upcoming Fusion Active. We expect touchscreens that support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to be standard or optional. Also, built-in navigation and Wi-Fi hotspot will likely be in the options menu. Ford usually also offers an upgraded audio system.
Ford Fusion Engine 2023
If we talk about the Ford Fusion 2023 engine so far without any official details about the engine and transmission options that will be offered in the Fusion Active, we can only speculate on the possibilities. One thing we can almost guarantee is that all-wheel drive will be offered.
There are also rumors that Ford will introduce hybrid powertrains and plug-in hybrids in its wagons. The two upgraded settings may be the same or similar to those running the Escape crossover. That means a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with two electric motors.
Fusion Active can also inherit the Escape’s 2.0-liter four-cylinder, eight-speed automatic transmission, which uses just 250 horsepower from the turbocharged petrol. We won’t know anything about the performance of the buggy or how to use it until we get behind the wheel.
We don’t have anything to report on fuel economy ratings, as we have no information on which powertrains can be used in the Fusion Active. We’ll update this section as soon as the EPA estimates are released, and eventually we’ll test these numbers on real-world highway routes.
Ford Fusion 2023 Price
We estimate that the Ford Fusion 2023 will have a price range of $40,000 to $50,000 when the Active hits dealerships next year. However, this is not official information, but we believe that the price shift is not far from our expectations.

2023 Ford Fusion Rumor
Ford engineers have been spotted with a prototype of the restyled Fusion sedan. Previously thought to be a hatchback being marketed as a Fusion Active in the US, recent spy footage reveals that the car is a traditional sedan. That means we’re unlikely to see it for sale in the US, given Ford’s focus on SUVs, vans and utilities here.
The new Fusion is a sure bet for the Chinese market, where the body style is still popular (China is also getting a restyled Taurus sedan). We can also see it offered in Europe as a restyled Mondeo – a badge sold with the Fusion outside North America.
The car is likely a relative of the company’s new Lincoln Zephyr, which was launched last fall and was developed exclusively for the Chinese market. This means that it roughly matches the dimensions of the Zephyr which includes a 114-inch wheelbase and 196-inch length.
The Zephyr will initially be offered with a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline 4- and 8-speed automatic, and the new Fusion will likely have the same. A hybrid powertrain could also be offered at some point.
It’s expected to debut later this year, but we already have a pretty good idea of what it’ll look like, given the similar design theme of the Ford Evos crossover that was also developed exclusively for the Chinese market.
But what about a Fusion alternative for the US market? Ford is still expected to offer a car that combines elements of a car and a crossover, a kind of soft road. Don’t be surprised if this model has been awarded the Fusion Active badge. The term Active is what Ford uses for soft-road vehicles it sells overseas, such as the Fiesta Active and Focus Active.
