The French Truck has been around for a while and it looks like we’ll see changes in the next year. Despite talking about a truck that relies heavily on Navara, it has its own design, which will be updated for next year, if we can trust the latest reports. The current model debuted in 2017, so this could be the perfect time for a temporary update. For the occasion, we were seeing novelties at both ends of the truck, although it seemed like bigger changes would not be coming to the fore. The engine setting must remain the same.

Under the hood, 2021 Renault Alaskan are sure to stay the same. This means you can count on the popular 2.3L turbo diesel engine, which is available in two variants, with a power of 160 or 190 hp. Either way, this truck is easy to drive while the utility is also at a respectable level. With the more powerful version, you can count on 3.5 tons of maximum traction, which is comparable to any other mid-size pickup, including models like Toyota Hilux, Nissan Navara, Isuzu D-Max, etc.

Most of the changes we see in this update are related to the exterior design. Of course the basic design will remain the same. We’re talking about a truck that relies heavily on the Nissan Navara. 2021 Renault Alaskan rides on the same F-Alpha platform and has the same overall shape and dimensions. This means you can expect a wheelbase of around 124 inches, which is more than enough for two rows of seats and a decent cargo bed.

In the following year, we’ll basically see design changes. This points especially to the front, where we expect things like new headlights, a new grille and a bumper, all adapted to the brand’s newer design language to a large extent, the rest of the body having the same look as the Navara, although some sources suggest this may change in the future. We may see some modifications at the rear, taillights and the tailgate. Of course we are counting on the new rims and color options.

When it comes to interior design, we don’t expect any bigger changes. Simply put, Frech’s manufacturer didn’t deal with this aspect of the truck at its initial launch, so it’s probably not an update. You can count on a simple and relatively mixed dashboard design, made largely of hard-to-touch but extremely durable materials that will last for decades. In practice, the only thing that changed was the steering wheel, so we’d expect everything to work the same way.

Of course there is always a chance to see some additions in regards to standard equipment, so we can see innovations in technology, safety systems, etc. The 2021 Renault Alaskan double cab design will continue as the only body style on offer.

2021 Renault Alaskan release date and price

We’re expecting 2021 Renault Alaskan sometime in the last quarter of the year. We don’t expect any bigger price changes, so the base models should come in at around € 40,000.
