The new panda will be launched in 2021. A purely electric version of the panda could follow in 2023.

Modularity will become even more important in its smallest segment in the future: even before the Fiat Panda, the Fiat 500 will be renewed in 2020. It is scheduled to be launched as an electric car. Like US electric car manufacturer Tesla, Fiat is considering leasing 500 to 500-capacity batteries. This should make it easier for buyers to transition to the new technology.

Olivier Francois said the extra cost of an electric motor in an expensive car is easy to hide. This is more difficult for Fiat as a small-car supplier. Another great opportunity, as Fiat produces a third of all small cars sold in Europe at well-priced with the 500.

Recently, however, the cheaper Panda has been a little more successful: the Fiat sold 105,500 Panda and 100,150 Fiat 500 in the first half of 2019. The small segment provides Fiat the opportunity to achieve “hundreds of thousands of electric vehicle sales.”

“All future Fiat models should move between 3.50 meters and 4.50 meters.” So the next 2021 Fiat Panda Cross could be a little more compact than the 3.68-meter Centroventi study. Still completely open to whether Fiat plans to use different gas and all-wheel drive variants of the Panda again.
